Discover Luxury Living at Singer Island, Palm Beach

Set on Florida’s famed Gold Coast, Singer Island is actually not really an island, but a peninsula-connected to Palm Beach before the Palm Beach Inlet was dug in 1917. Despite the misnomer, Singer Island evokes an island state of mind, the kind of place where luxury and leisure easily co-exist side-by-side. With aquamarine waters of the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop, Singer Island boast miles of beautiful beaches and is the closest land in the United States to the warm blue waters of the Gulf Stream. palm beach

The tiny barrier island has seven miles sparkling white sand beaches, which are considered among the top five beaches in Palm Beach County. You will also find beautiful parks, marinas, hiking and bike paths.

Singer Island is poised between Jupiter and Palm Beach, and today you can stroll 14 miles along the beach from the Palm Beach Inlet north to the Jupiter Inlet. There’s also a pedestrian path that stretches almost the entire length of the island along the lakeside of AIA.

Singer Island gets its name from Paris Singer, the famous developer of Palm Beach, who was the 23rd and next to last child of Isaac Singer, the sewing machine magnate. Paris Singer visited Florida in 1917 and purchased a home in Palm Beach. He fell in love with the area, and together with famed architect Addison Mizner had plans to build two hotels, the upscale Paris Singer Hotel at the south end, and a second resort hotel, the Blue Heron at the north end, with a 36-hole golf course in between the two beachfront properties. He began construction on one hotel, but the real estate collapse put a halt to his ambitious plans. Singer’s abandoned, incomplete hotel was razed in 1940. By the 1950s, the area was enjoying tremendous growth and Singer Island became a resort destination for affluent winter residents.

Singer Island represents the ultimate in high-end living, and you’ll find breathtaking ocean views from the luxury beachfront properties that line the Atlantic oceanside of the barrier island. Primarily a resort community, many of the luxury condos are home to seasonal residents who enjoy the upscale comfort of this beachside escape.

Its location within Palm Beach County means that Singer Island residents are minutes away from the world famous golf courses at PGA, as well as the shopping and entertainment at historic Clematis Street, CityPlace, Worth Avenue and the Palm Beach Gardens Mall. With Palm Beach International Airport only being a 15-minute drive, Singer Island is quicker to get to from the New York area than the Hamptons.

With a total island population of fewer than 8,000 in season, Singer Island is wonderful place to call home. In addition to luxury condos, at the northern end of the island is MacArthur Beach State Park, a nature conservatory donated to the State by John D. MacArthur. It covers 225 acres of land with an additional 535 acres of submerged land. The park has a nature museum, picnic areas, nature trails, and a large, unspoiled two-mile private beach with limestone reefs perfect for snorkeling. Within the park one can observe many species of birds, small animals and trees. The park has informative nature tours and turtle-watching tours during nesting season.
