Once again Byron Scott has been suckered into taking another horrible coaching job in the Los Angeles Lakers. As of right now the Lakers record is 1-5 and they are dead last in the Western Conference Pacific Division. As many of you know Scott’s last head coaching job with the Cleveland Cavaliers did not turn out as planned.
He was bought in to replace Mike Brown as an attempt to keep LeBron James in Cleveland but we all know how that ended. Overall the life after LeBron plan failed Alphafysiotherapie chronische nekpijn as the Cavaliers fail to make the playoffs under Scott’s tenure.
Scott was eventually fired only to be replaced by Mike Brown once again. Ever since being fired by the then New Orleans Hornets and the New Jersey Nets Scott have struggled to find a job that has established stars and a surrounding cast to become a successful head coach once again. Now it looks like he is in the same predicament once again with the Lakers.
In the 2014 offseason there were at least three superstars that were available for the Lakers to possibly sign in order for them to have a fighter’s chance in the highly competitive Western Conference. LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Carmelo Anthony all declined to sign with Lakers in the offseason.
If you ask me that’s shocking to find out that no big name free agent wanted to wear to coveted purple and gold uniform. Instead the Lakers front office decided to sign players such as Carlos Boozer and Jeremy Lin.
Boozer and Lin are good complementary players to Kobe Bryant but he needs someone other than him to take the big shots. As many of you know already Kobe is doing exactly just that, taking all the shots. He’s doing that because he realizes that there is no one else to make key contributions to this ball club. Kobe Bryant is 36 years old, that’s nine years older than LeBron James.
He’s at the point where his body cannot take the physical punishment that it once took a few years ago. Coach Scott must figure out a way to get Kobe out of some of those blowout games if they want to keep him around for a few more years. About a month ago the daughter of former Lakers owner the late Dr. Jerry Buss Jeanie Buss appeared on ESPN’S First Take to talk about the recent issues in the Lakers organization.
There was a report that free agents decided not to sign with the Lakers because they did not want to play with yours truly Kobe Bryant. Buss’s response to those rumors were “any free agent that would be afraid to play with Kobe Bryant is probably a loser, and I’m glad they wouldn’t come to the team,” those were the exact words of Jennie Buss in her interview on First Take a few weeks ago.
Now if you ask me Coach Scott is in an uphill battle to get top notch free agents to sign with the Lakers. From what I took from the interview there appears to be some conflict between the brother and sister duo that run the Lakers. If the Lakers Organization cannot resolve their problems at the top Byron Scott will be doomed once again.
In all honesty I think it sucks for Coach Scott to go through this once again, you know what he is capable of when he has talent to work with. He led the New Jersey Nets to the NBA Finals twice during his tenure as head coach. He also led the New Orleans Hornets to one of its best records in team history in 2008. Hopefully when heads start to roll in Laker Land he will not become the scapegoat.
