Soon the dietary advice you receive if you are a Type 2 diabetic may be the same as that of a person who does not have this condition. Which is great news – as often people living with diabetes can be left feeling the dietary changes they must incorporate to manage or reverse their Type 2 diabetes is so far removed from what they see the rest of society eating.
The possible change to dietary and lifestyle advice for all persons came about from a study carried out by Dr Diewertje Sluik and his research team from the Department of Epidemiology, German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke, Nuthetal, Germany.
The research was based on 6,384 people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and 258,911 EPIC participants without diabetes. The results of this study concluded the people currently living with diabetes had a 62% higher mortality rate compared to the people in the study without diabetes.
